Originally from Lebanon, Rabih Mroué and Manal Khader create two personal perspectives on the development of the Palestinian revolution. Beyond the big, incisive events they approach this subject from its fringes: Based on found documents, film sequences, and formative and seemingly incidental events, ODE TO JOY pursues in fragmentary scenes several trails and in doing so also makes an exemplary reference to the dramatic events of the Munich Olympic massacre at the Olympic Games in 1972. In their performance they are also always concerned with confronting the failure of the present with reality, with seeing theater as a possibility to comprehend, to relate the past again, and to imagine the future in the form of possible scenarios.
