Here we are. We crossed the end. There is an app for everything, for the weather forecast, for the next date, for controlling the pulse, for the way home, for counting the steps. Nobody needs to get lost anymore. Nobody needs to get wet. Nobody needs to be alone. Nobody needs to know. All data – big or small – are in the cloud. Everything is transparent yet nothing can be seen. SCULPTING FEAR is a highly visual piece that hides in haze. The performance explores the beauty of disaster and uses ephemeral structures in order to give shape to the formless. Julian Hetzel generates storms and works with weather conditions in a dissolving scenography, while exploring the physicality of fear in performance. Crash after crash after crash.

Biography
Julian Hetzel studied audio-visual communication at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar and later at DasArts in Amsterdam. His performances frequently have to do with the question of the meaning and material value of employment, and also with the ethic principals of success in society. And so in the performance THE BENEFACTOR, which he referred to as a »2,000-day long intercontinental performance,« he used his subsidy to sponsor a child. As part of the CITYWORKS program at SPIELART 2013, Hetzel explored in the project THE INDUSTRY OF WAITING the relationship and economics of activity and inactivity based on the conflict with professional »silent beggars.«
