Thirty monitors are set up in an orderly fashion around a table, thirty persons from all over the world relate in short films the most unbelievable but true stories: about the famous pianist who doesn't realize until she's standing at the podium that she rehearsed the wrong concert, and the young woman who had locked herself in her room for years and only communicated through the closed door, and the surgeon who mistakenly switched the heads and bodies of two monkeys during an operation, and the monkeys surprisingly survived the operation …
The individual viewer only sees on »his« or »her« monitor one segment from all of the stories. And yet a collective astonishment is created in the space about all that is humanely possible.

Biography
When they founded BERLIN in 2003, the Belgian artists Bart Baele and Yves Degryse made the decision to not follow a certain genre but to be open for being guided by every work process in a new way. Two project cycles, on which the artists worked concurrently, were created from this philosophy: HOLOCENE, a series of city portraits named after the current period in geological history, and HORROR VACUI, where interviews become video-supported table discussions that relate idiosyncratic stories. In terms of content and form, the work of BERLIN traverses and bonds diverse academic and artistic zones, and uses documentary, cinematic, and musical elements in its scenographic settings with their characteristic monitors. BERLIN shows their work in different artistic contexts in the fields of visual and performance arts. PERHAPS ALL THE DRAGONS is part of the HORROR VACUI cycle.
